Honeymoon

Published on January 5, 2006

We’ll write more when we get back, but we are currently in New Zealand and will be until Monday when we continue on to Australia. Our first leg of the journey was full of unexpected surprises (such as having to return to the LAX after flying over the Pacific Ocean for a few hours). Fortunately, Air New Zealand (the airline we flew with) had good customer service and provided rooms and meals for everyone. More on that and pictures when we get back.
So far, we are enjoying New Zealand. The view from the Queenstown airport is breathtaking — it was amazing how close to the mountains the wings of the plane seemed. And it took a while to get adjusted to driving on the (other) “right” side of the road. We were able to have a quiet dinner at Nugget Point where we stayed. Now we are in Te Anau. Though a tourist town, it is much quieter than Queenstown is.
Hope everyone is well. Thank you all for coming to our wedding and celebrating with us!!

Things we’ve been up to

Published on October 20, 2005

We haven’t dropped off the edge of the planet, though it may seem like it for all the updating that occurs on this blog. Only a little over two months to go, and while there are still quite a few outstanding tasks, we have also managed to accomplish much since the beginning of September.
While Jennifer was in Taiwan for a week visiting relatives and getting her dresses made, Dan managed to make significant headway on the house. As a result, the bathroom in the hallway, which had previous remained in nearly-finished state for about a year, is now done as is the former “work room”. Since, the master bedroom and bathroom have been gutted. In fact, we have managed to (amongst other things): move the closet opening a little, put in a replacement phone line, rip out ceiling in the hall and put up a new one, and dispose of the debris from demolitian.
We’ve also started staining and finishing the windows and doors. Perhaps some pictures will be forthcoming.
We’ve also settled on a florist, gotten tuxes picked out and gone in to get measured for them (Dan has), and as indicated before, Jennifer now has a wedding gown. All in all, a pretty busy month.

Dan and I made these cards a while ago and, for the most part already mailed them out. It took a few test prints before we decided on the layout, and required two passes through the printer to allow us to use two colors of embossing powder.
